Mark Gordon Gaskill

On a typical day, you’re likely to hear Mark Gordon Gaskill sing a Fred Astaire song from the 1930s, a Johnny Mercer song from the 1940s, a Frank Sinatra song from the 1950s, a Beatles hit from the 1960s, a James Taylor ballad from the 1970s, a Jackson Browne tune from the 1980s, an original composition from 1995, and the Verdi Requiem.

Gahanna, Ohio guitarist, keyboardist, and singer/songwriter Mark Gordon Gaskill is deeply rooted in Americana, and strands of rock, pop, country, folk and bluegrass are woven through his music.  But not just the Americana music of the past forty years – Mark’s musical roots in Americana go back to the early 20th century, to a time when audiences around the world were beginning their love affair with records and radio, when orchestra leaders and bands were as well-known as politicians and much more admired.

As a solo artist, Mark accompanies himself on guitar and piano with a wide-ranging repertoire of cover songs and original works.

Mark sings songs from “Your Hit Parade”, a weekly radio and television program that ran from 1935 to 1959 featuring top songs of the week.  He sings programs of “Songs From Then And Now”, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s songs from the soundtrack of your life.  Finally, as an accomplished and published songwriter, Mark also sings his own original compositions.

If you were born between 1920 and 1990, Mark has a song for you.

Mark also currently plays keyboards and sings in two bands.  Galena, Ohio based nine-piece band "The Usual Suspects" and their brass section "The Repeat Offenders" (theusualsuspectsband.net) delivers full-throated current and classic rock, pop and country tunes at festivals and dances throughout Ohio.  Take away “The Repeat Offenders” and you have “The Unusual Suspects” playing classic rock and pop songs from the 50s to the 90s.

From 2014 to 2018, Mark sang in the bass section of the Columbus Symphony Chorus.

From 1992 to 2005, Mark was the guitarist and lead singer for One Riot One Ranger (facebook.com/1riotoneranger) an internationally acclaimed acoustic country and bluegrass band based in Columbus, Ohio.  1R1R released three CDs, with the latter two, "Sidetracks" and "Flat City Nights" charting on Billboard's Top 40 Americana list.
